On April 16, Dr. Anu Rathninde, President of Johnson Controls Asia Pacific and Professor of Practice at Zhejiang University International Business School (ZIBS), led a team of 49 senior executives to conduct an academic lecture series on leadership, One JCI Leadership Excellence Program Johnson Controls APAC, at ZIBS. The event was hosted by Martin Liu from the Executive Education Programs (EEP) Department of ZIBS.
Before the program started, Dr. BEN Shenglin, Dean of ZIBS, and Dr. Anu Rathninde, President of Johnson Controls Asia Pacific, delivered the opening addresses respectively.
BEN Shenglin introduced his magically intertwined relationship with Zhejiang University, the International Campus of Zhejiang University and Johnson Controls to the executives of Johnson Controls APAC, and welcomed everyone to build a cooperative relationship aimed towards sustainable development with ZIBS henceforth.
Anu Rathninde expressed appreciation to ZIBS for providing the academic lecture series on leadership, One JCI Leadership Excellence Program Johnson Controls APAC, with first-class course design of a scientific, innovative and globalized nature as well as premium internationalized program execution of the highest standards. He hoped that everyone could truly reexperience the university educational environment while turning on the learning switch to make the most of the executive education opportunity.
BEN Shenglin gave an English lecture on "Global Trends in VUCA Era & New Opportunities for Chinese Enterprises". He creatively summarized the volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity of the current trend as the "VUCA Era", guiding everyone to think deeply on the five questions: "Is the rise of the East unstoppable", "Are four new trends irreversible", "Who is winning the global competition", "How new forces can develop enterprises" and "What are the opportunities in VUCA era". He then presented the following six "new" perspectives to everyone:

In his conclusive remarks, BEN Shenglin reminded everyone to follow new trends and seize new opportunities.
In the discussion section, executives from Johnson Controls Asia Pacific showed heightened enthusiasm by raising their hands for questions. BEN Shenglin shared with everyone his personal hands-on experience in the financial world and the application of the Pachyrhizus Economy Theory in the international higher education field at ZIBS on topics such as the global economic trend, enterprise transformation and development, the digital economy, etc.
In the afternoon, Dr. Graham Mitchelmore, Adjunct Professor of the School of Management of Zhejiang University and former Chief Superintendent of the Hong Kong Police of China, gave a lecture on Organizational Behavior and Leadership.
Graham Mitchelmore advanced through four modules: "The Tetrad of Leadership Practice", "Environmental Uncertainty", "Strategic Leadership", and "Global Leadership Framework". Combining his practical decision-making experience in the Hong Kong Police of China, he inspired executive students on how leaders should respond effectively in different environments.
The academic lecture series on leadership, One JCI Leadership Excellence Program Johnson Controls APAC is a high-end, premium, innovative, globalized, and uniquely branded international executive education program of ZIBS and an important attempt and measure of ZIBS to facilitate the construction of Model Region of International Cooperative Education for Zhejiang University. Of the 49 executives who participated, 22 were from China (including three from Hong Kong SAR, China), 15 were from Southeast Asia, 6 were from Japan, 5 were from Europe and North America, and 1 was from South Korea. BEN Shenglin and Graham Mitchelmore's executive education courses were highly received by all participants. The overall planning and execution of the ZIBS International Executive Education Program were also highly regarded by all attendees as well as Johnson Controls APAC.
