ZIBS "Global Leaders Series and 2024 Shanghai Alumni Salon" was successfully held on May 26. The event featured distinguished speakers, including Sergio Rial, a member of ZIBS International Advisory Board (IAB) and lead director in large listed US and Brazilian companies, as well as HUA Jingdong, ZIBS IAB Member and Vice Chair of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) and former Vice President and Treasurer of the World Bank. The event drew around fifty participants, including ZIBS Dean BEN Shenglin, alumni, faculty, and representatives from ZIBS Shanghai partners. 

 

 

The event commenced with a keynote address by Sergio Rial on "Leadership in Global Context." Drawing on his extensive experience and insights, Sergio Rial analyzed the latest developments in leadership within contemporary society. Through a series of case studies, he demonstrated the application of leadership in real-world scenarios, highlighting both the challenges and opportunities presented by an ever-changing environment. His presentation not only broadened the audience's understanding of leadership but encouraged deeper reflection on leadership practices and future trends.

 

 

Following this, YU Yaqiao provided a comprehensive overview of ZIBS iMBA program, highlighting its unique features and critical role in developing global leadership talent.

 

 

The event then transitioned into the "Fireside Chats on Leadership" roundtable discussion, which focused on leveraging advanced technologies such as AI, blockchain, and big data to drive corporate innovation and development. The discussion was moderated by YANG Yinping, an iMBA student from the class of 2023 and currently Investment Director at Waterdrip Capital. The panelists included ZHANG Ruidong, CTO of ZIBS and iMBA Program Director, MU Qing, Founder and Chairman of Shanghai Hotnest Network Technology Co., Ltd., along with ZIBS Cambridge CEO Program alumni: Megan Hu, Managing Director of Shanghai World Union Equity Investment Management Co., Ltd.; Emma Wang, Vice President at INF Technology Co., Ltd.; and SHI Lan, Founder of cocafe. They shared insights on the essential leadership skills for navigating crises, emphasizing decision-making prowess, effective communication and teamwork, and adept strategies for tackling challenges through meticulous planning and execution.

 

 

The salon concluded with the inauguration of the ZIBS Shanghai Alumni Association. Megan Hu was appointed Chairman, with YANG Bo and GAO Hanmo as Vice Chairmen and YANG Yinping as Executive Secretary. This newly established association aims to connect ZIBS alumni in Shanghai, foster potential networking, and provide strong support for their professional and personal development.

 

 

The Global Leaders Series and 2024 Shanghai Alumni Salon not only served as a valuable platform for alumni networking but also highlighted ZIBS dedication to international education and global leadership development.
