On May 27, 2024, ZIBS joined hands with Johnson Controls for an inspiring field visit at Johnson Controls APAC Headquarters. This visit, part of the ZIBS Global Leaders Series, brought together ZIBS students, faculty, and key industry leaders for a day filled with learning and networking.
The event kicked off with a warm welcome from the Johnson Controls team. Participants were then given a fascinating tour of thier Customer Experience Centre. Through the innovative solutions and technologies that drive Johnson Controls' success, the tour offered valuable insights into the cutting-edge developments in building technologies.
After a brief tea break, the formal program began with an introduction to the company by Anu Rathninde, President, Asia Pacific at Johnson Controls. This session provided an overview of Johnson Controls' global footprint and their commitment to sustainability and innovation. Following this, LIN Lin, Vice president of Human Resources at Johnson Controls APAC, shared the company's talent development strategies and best practices, emphasizing the importance of nurturing talent for organizational growth. Jeongmin Seong, Partner at McKinsey Global Institute explored the dynamic changes in Asia's economy and technology, offering participants valuable insights into the region's future opportunities and challenges.
The day concluded with a Career Guidance Session led by YU Ning, Director of China Solution Centers of Johnson Controls. This interactive session provided experience sharing on what are the certainty and uncertainty of career, addressing the aspirations and concerns of ZIBS students. He emphasized the necessity of continuous learning and the ability to adapt to change. And he also encouraged students to think ahead and set corresponding goals along a one-year, three-year, and five-year timeline for their career paths.
Additionally, the ZIBS Global Leaders Series, together with Anu Rathninde, hosted a session themed "Developing Future Talent and Connecting Businesses with Talent." The discussion delved into talent development strategies, models of university-industry collaboration, and the multiple challenges in a globalized environment. The focus was on how to better facilitate university-industry cooperation and promote the integration of industry, academia, and research.
Overall, the field visit refelects the strong collaboration between ZIBS and Johnson Controls. It provided participants with valuable industry insights, practical knowledge, and excellent networking opportunities.
