Way of Payment: Application fees and tuition fees should be paid in the online application system. If one fails to make the online payment, then one MUST pay the application fee to the University’s Bank Account (Link), and upload the remittance letter to the System.
1. General Requirements
1.1 Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and valid passport holders.
1.2 Under the age of 25. Applicants must have graduated from high school. (Those who provide pre-graduation certificate or student status certificate during application MUST provide the graduation certificate no later than registration.)
1.3 With proper moral conduct, in good health with no infectious disease or any physical or mental disease that may affect the normal study.
2. Requirements on Citizenship
Requirements of the regulations set in Documents 12 (2020) of the Ministry of Education of the PRC should be met (Link).
2.1 Applicants who have given up their original Chinese citizenship (including residents in Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan) and become foreign citizens, must acquire foreign citizenship before April 30, 2021, and must have lived abroad more than 2 years from April 30, 2021 to April 30, 2025 (more than 9 months of residence abroad per year can be considered as one year, taking entry and exit stamps as evidence).
2.2 If the applicants have acquired foreign citizenship automatically at the time of birth in a foreign country, whose parents were both Chinese citizens, or one of the parents was a Chinese citizen, the parent’s (with Chinese citizenship) permanent resident in a foreign country should be obtained prior to the birth of the applicant. Applicants must have lived abroad for more than 2 years from April 30, 2021 to April 30, 2025 (more than 9 months of residence abroad per year can be considered as one year, taking entry and exit stamps as evidence).
Note: If the applicant is concluded to have Chinese citizenship by the Chinese public security department after application, admission, or enrolment, the applicant will be disqualified from application, admission or enrolment, or withdrawal from school will be required.
3. Language Proficiency Requirements
3.1 If applicants’ native language is not English, they should provide score report of English language test. English Language Entry Requirements: TOEFL (minimum 80) or IELTS-Academic (6.5 or higher). TOEFL DI Code of ZIBS is C603. TOEFL MyBest score is accepted.
3.2 There are no Chinese Language proficiency requirements for this program.
Applicants must log in to the Online Application System for International Students of Zhejiang University (Link), fill in clearly, and upload the original or notarized scanned copies of the following materials as required.
1. A photocopy of the passport front page. Passports should be valid on or after March 1, 2026.
2. Senior high school diploma. Current high school students shall provide an official pre-graduation certificate. Those who provide pre-graduation certificate or student status certificate at application MUST provide senior high school diploma no later than registration.
3. Academic transcripts for all the courses in senior high school.
4. Language proficiency certificates.
Applicants must provide grade report of the TOEFL or IELTS test, or other proof that can reflect the applicants’ English proficiency. (Not required for English native speakers)
5. Two recommendation letters from high school teachers. (Teachers’ signature, contact phone number, and email address must be put on the letter.)
6. An 800-word personal statement, in Chinese or English, should include study experience, reasons for application, and personal strengths.
7. Award-winning Certificates related to academic courses during your senior high school period. (If applicable)
8. Applicants who have given up their original Chinese citizenship and become foreign citizens shall provide:
- Documents certifying the cancellation of Chinese citizenship,
- Documents certifying the cancellation of Chinese household registration,
- Documents certifying the acquirement of foreign citizenship,
- Exit and Entry Record on passport, from April 30, 2021, to April 30, 2025,
- Self-Statement Form of Nationality Status and Nationality Confirmation and Guarantee Letter (Download).
9. Applicants who have acquired foreign citizenship automatically at the time of birth in a foreign country, whose parents were both Chinese citizens, or one of the parents was a Chinese citizen shall provide:
- Documents certifying acquiring foreign citizenship at the time of birth,
- Documents certifying parent’s (with Chinese citizenship) permanent residence in a foreign country before the birth of the applicant,
- Exit and Entry Record on passport, from April 30, 2021, to April 30, 2025,
- Self-Statement Form of Nationality Status and Nationality Confirmation and Guarantee Letter (Download).
10. Applicants under the age of 18 (by September 1st, 2025) should submit Letter of Guardian Guarantee (Download) and the guardian must be an adult living in mainland, China.
11. Commitments for Zhejiang University Undergraduate Application (Download). The PDF version of the Commitments must be clearly and completely filled out and hand-signed. Applications without the Commitments will not be accepted.
Notes:
1. Please ensure that the passport submitted is your most recent one. If necessary, renew your passport in advance before submitting the application. Once admitted, the passport information cannot be changed until new semester registration. If the passport is replaced due to special circumstances or force majeure, a written explanation should be submitted to the university and consent must be obtained.
2. Results of international standard tests (e.g. SAT/IB/GCE A-LEVEL/ACT/STPM/GED/UEC/OTHER) or university entrance exams of the applicant’s country are accepted. It is strongly recommended to provide the student’s relative ranking or the percentile in the school if the applicant could only submit the test scores from the school.
3. The above application materials must be in Chinese or English, and notarized copies of translations must be provided for texts in other languages.
4. Please DO NOT mail the hard copies of the application materials or send them by email. Application materials sent by post or email will NOT be reviewed and processed.
5. When submitting the application, please ensure that all required documents have been uploaded as specified. Additional materials will NOT be accepted once the application has been submitted. The school reserves the right to request supplementary documents from applicants if necessary.
1.The university will conduct a preliminary review of the applicant's materials. Those who pass the preliminary review will need to attend an online interview. Students are enrolled on the basis of competitive selection according to their academic performance in senior high school, language proficiency and performance in the interview,etc. The university will determine the name list of preliminary admission in different batches according to the application received. Applicants can also log on the Online Application System (Link) to track the admission process.
2.Applicants who receive the Pre-Admission Notice should prepay the first year tuition fee on the Online Application System within the specific time period stated on the Notice. If the applicant is not able to make the online payment due to certain reason, then one MUST pay the tuition fee to the University’s Bank Account (Link), and upload the remittance letter to the System. The pre-admission will be canceled if applicants fail to prepay the first-year tuition fee within the stated time period.
3.Admission Notice will be uploaded onto the application system from the end of June 2025. Download link of the electronic Confirmation Form for Study in China (for visa) will be sent to the permanent email address filled in the application system by the applicant.
Notes:
1. When wiring tuition fee to the university bank account, you must fill in the application serial number, applicant’s name.
2. The university would only reserve study places for students who have paid the tuition for the first academic year in advance. If students later, for personal reasons, give up schooling or apply for withdrawal procedures after registration, prepaid tuition fees for the first academic year will NOT be refunded.
3. For the admitted students who are disqualified by the university as they fail to meet the school’s registration requirements, the prepaid tuition fee will NOT be refunded.
4. If new policies are issued by superior departments, corresponding adjustments will be made.
1. Undergraduate programs of Zhejiang University usually start in late August or early September every year. For exact registration dates, please refer to the Admission Notice.
2. Admitted applications should register with the university according to the time specified in the admission notice. The original graduation certificate and original language proficiency certificate will be checked upon registration. Those who fail to provide the original copy will be disqualified from enrollment.
3. Medical Insurance
Fee: RMB 800 / per academic year.
According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education, international students who study for one semester or longer must purchase comprehensive medical insurance in mainland China as a necessary requirement for their registration for the new semester.
Students who fail to purchase comprehensive medical insurance as required will NOT be registered by the university.
Information related to purchasing insurance will be notified in detail before registration. The admitted students should handle insurance affairs strictly according to the instructions on the notice.
ZIBS Hai Scholarship (RMB 5,000-30,000 Yuan)
The ZIBS Hai Scholarship is established to reward individuals with outstanding potentials. It is open to all ZIBS international applicants. The scholarship will be paid to students after the student arrives in the international campus physically. Students are, however, required to pay the tuition in full upon registration. Applicants should fill in the Hai Application Form and submit it together with other application materials via the application system.
