At the Centre for Intercultural Development (TDU), we are committed to fostering greater cross-cultural understanding, enriching campus life, and empowering students to pursue their academic and personal growth with greater depth. TDU serves as a dynamic platform for multicultural exchange and interaction, promoting positive engagement, active exploration, and cultivating a spirit of inclusivity and mutual respect, all aimed at building a close-knit intercultural community. Through a range of activities, students have the opportunity to explore the diverse social cultures, academic traditions, and business practices from around the globe.
With a strong focus on student development, we encourage creativity and initiative, working closely with various departments, faculties, campuses, as well as other higher education institutions and businesses to shape a rich, inclusive learning environment.
We warmly welcome students and staff from around the world to come and experience the vibrant exchange of cultures, igniting new ideas and embarking on an inspiring intercultural journey!
At TDU, we celebrate diversity through a series of cultural activities, including Culture Week, Culture Month, and Carnivals. The "Experience China" series offers students an immersive opportunity to engage deeply with local life, allowing them to personally experience Chinese culture and society. Through these interactions, students not only gain a better understanding of global cultures but also strengthen their sense of identity within their own. This initiative promotes respect for differences and fosters the creation of a harmonious and inclusive cultural community.
Through the Business Practice Series, TDU explores both traditional and contemporary business practices in China, while examining the operation and development of international businesses in the country. Students gain insights into the evolution of Chinese business traditions and how they have adapted to meet the demands of the modern market. The series delves into the cultural and historical factors influencing current business practices, offering a deep understanding of China's business environment. It provides a valuable perspective on how to respect tradition while embracing innovation and change.
TDU promotes the spirit of volunteerism, encouraging students to engage with the local community and actively participate in social service activities. In close collaboration with local primary and secondary schools, TDU organises a variety of language and cultural exchange programmes to foster cross-cultural understanding. Through charity events, funds are raised to support the academic and personal development of local students. This initiative encourages TDU students to contribute to society and integrate themselves into the community's growth and progress.
TDU’s Workshop Series covers a wide range of topics, including global leadership, negotiation skills, and public speaking. These workshops not only equip students with valuable knowledge and practical skills but also foster critical thinking, teamwork, and a spirit of innovation. Through active participation, students can discover their potential, push beyond their limits, and lay a strong foundation for their future careers.

I had a really interesting time going to the WangGuowei Primary School to volunteer. I enjoyed interacting with the children, teaching them some vocabulary. This was definitely a good experience and I'll be happy to try it again !

Participating in the cultural booth at our campus charity event was an incredibly fun, enjoyable, and exciting experience. Collaborating with my friend to create an engaging representation of Iran and Algeria brought a unique blend of cultural diversity to the event. As children flocked to our booth, their faces lit up with curiosity and anticipation. It was an absolute joy to share the richness of our heritage with others and witness the positive impact it had on everyone involved.

“Personally, the debates was one of the best parts about the field trip. It gave us the opportunity to practice our critical thinking and team work as we built our defense. Moreover, it was extremely interesting that all the cases were based on real incidents. I think this activity sparked a new found interest in law for me and several other classmates.”

“Getting a sneak-peek into real-life disputes between businesses gives us the curiosity and insight into the ups and downs of an organization. Not having practical experience in the business world drove us to exercise our ability to think analytically and outside of the box. It made us realize that we still have a lot to learn and look forward to.”
