Earth Day

Today, it seems that everyone gathers to chat about all things Earth.
From the environmental pollution to the urgent calls of climate crises, healthcare, sustainable energy, gender equality, and the symphony of biodiversity... However, will these discussions be continued after today?
If we're going to paint a picture of Earth, we can't just sketch the surface.

In the "Corporate Social Responsibility" course with Prof. Jia Jia Lim, the third-year students of the Global Communication and Management (GCM) program have been deeply rooted in thought about the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Today, they have set up an exhibition on the SDGs in the library.

The “SDG Exhibition” showcases initiatives, projects, innovations and solutions aimed at addressing the global challenges outlined in the SDGs, aiming to highlight the interconnectedness of environmental, social, and economic issues and emphasizes the importance of collective action to achieve equitable and sustainable development.
Exhibits focus on material issues such as climate change, poverty alleviation, gender equality, and responsible consumption and production. By highlighting these material issues, the exhibition showcases which material topics are most relevant and important to the company and its stakeholders and encourages stakeholders to prioritize actions that have the greatest potential impact on achieving the SDGs.

This course, combined with the library's "Earth Day" activities, has enhanced students' teamwork skills, deepened their understanding of the SDGs, and blossomed many new perspectives, ideas, and inspirations to nurture sustainable development.

Let’s check their colorful works!

Green Trip @Anji

Apart from the third-year students of the GCM program, many ZIBSers also deeply experienced China's practice of green and sustainable development through “Me & China” series event at Anji last Saturday, gaining a profound understanding of the “Two Mountains” concept: “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets”.

In Anji, where the concept was born, they unraveled various practices of ecological civilization construction and better understand how to pursue high-quality and sustainable growth through protecting the environment and developing green industries:
Visiting Yu Village, listening to Mr. PAN Chunlin, local villager as a witness of the concept, share the story of Yu Village's green development;
 At Anji White Tea Group, learning how Anji white tea embraces digitalization to create a "smart brain" for the white tea industry;
 At Wufengshan Sports Village, exploring how "aging" villages are experiencing a rebirth...

The call of Earth Day is not just a fleeting moment, nor is it just for today. As one of the core values of ZIBS, sustainable development lets us resonate with the Earth, starting with a small step today!
Whether it's reducing the use of plastic products, insisting on green travel, turning off lights when not in use, saving water resources, consciously sorting garbage, participating in clothing recycling, etc., let's really get into environmental protection by making small changes in our daily lives.
Even if it's a tiny leaf, every leaf counts. Let's give back to the Earth and grow our understanding together, just like how a tree adds a new ring each year.

 About SDGs

The Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice. The 17 Goals are all interconnected, and in order to leave no one behind.
