Application Guide for ZIBS Graduate Programs 2024

1. Application Duration
Early Action Deadline: February 29, 2024
Final Deadline: May 31, 2024
We receive a high volume of applications, so we encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible or in the Early Action Round.

Note: Applicants must complete the application in the Online Application System for International Students (Link) before the deadline, provide all materials in full as required, and pay the application fee.


2. Application Fee and Tuition Fee

  1. Way of Payment: Application fees and tuition fees should be paid in the online application system. If one fails to make the online payment, then one MUST pay the application fee to the University’s Bank Account(Link), and upload the remittance letter to the System.

3. Eligibility
  1. General Requirements
1.1 Applications must be non-Chinese citizens and valid passport holders.
1.2 Under the age of 35 for graduate program (Age limit is flexible for healthy applicants with certain work experience and high academic ability). Applicants must be Bachelor’s degree holders (Those who provide pre-graduation certificate or student status certificate at application MUST provide Bachelor's degree diploma no later than registration).
1.3 With proper moral conduct, in good health with no infectious disease or any physical or mental disease that may affect the normal study.
  1. Requirements on Citizenship
         Requirements of the regulations set in the Documents 12 (2020) of Ministry of Education of the PRC should be met(Link).
2.1 Applicants who have given up their original Chinese citizenship (including residents in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan) and become foreign citizens, must acquire foreign citizenship before April 30, 2020, and must have lived abroad more than 2 years from April 30, 2020 to April 30, 2024 (more than 9 months of residence abroad per year can be considered as one year, taking entry and exit stamps as evidence).
2.2 If the applicants has acquired foreign citizenship automatically at the time of birth in a foreign country, whose parents were both Chinese citizens, or one of the parents was a Chinese citizen, parent’s (with Chinese citizenship) permanent resident in foreign country should be obtained prior to the birth of the applicant. Applicants must have lived abroad more than 2 years from April 30, 2020 to April 30, 2024 (more than 9 months of residence abroad per year can be considered as one year, taking entry and exit stamps as evidence).
Note: If the applicant is concluded to have Chinese citizenship by the Chinese public security department after application, admission or enrolment, the applicant will be disqualified from application, admission or enrolment, or withdrawal from school will be required.
 
  1. Language Proficiency Requirements
3.1 If applicants’ native language is not English, they should provide score report of English language test. English Language Entry Requirements: TOEFL (minimum 80), IELTS (6.5 or higher) or other proof of proficiency. TOEFL DI Code of ZIBS is C603. TOEFL MyBest score is accepted.
3.2 For applicants that are applying for IMFA, are required to have HSK certificate of level 5 or above.

4. Documents for application
Applicants must log in to the Online Application System for International Students of Zhejiang University (Link), fill in clearly and upload completely the original or notarized scanned copies of the following materials as required. 
  1. A photocopy of passport front page. Passports should be valid on or after December 31, 2024.
  2. Highest degree certificates. If applicants are university students, they shall provide an official pre-graduation certificate. The original or notarized copy of the academic qualification certificate must be submitted after admission (the degree certificate must be obtained no later than registration).
  3. Academic transcripts during Bachelor’s degree study.
  4. Language proficiency certificates.(Download)
  5. A 1500-word personal statement, in Chinese or English, should include study and work experience, reasons for application and study proposals.
  6. Two letters of recommendation from full professors or associate professors. (Professors’ signature, contact phone number and email address must be put on the letter.)
  7. Published academic papers or other academic achievements. (If applicable)
  8. Applicants are encouraged to provide GRE/GMAT test score.
  9. Applicants who have given up their original Chinese citizenship and become foreign citizens shall provide:
9.1 Documents certifying the cancellation of Chinese citizenship;
9.2 Documents certifying the cancellation of Chinese household registration;
9.3 Documents certifying the acquirement of foreign citizenship
  1. If the applicant has acquired foreign citizenship automatically at the time of birth in a foreign country, whose parents were both Chinese citizens, or one of the parents was Chinese citizen shall provide:
10.1 Documents certifying the acquirement of foreign citizenship at the time of birth;
10.2 Documents certifying parent’s (with Chinese citizenship) permanent residence in foreign country before the birth of the applicant.
Notes:
  1. After submitting the above materials in the online system, please pay the application fee in the system or upload the remittance letter of the application fee.
  2. The above application materials must be in Chinese or English, and notarized copies of translations must be provided for texts in other languages.
  3. Please DO NOT mail the hard copies of the application materials or send them by e-mail. The paper application materials and the application materials sent by e-mail will not be reviewed and processed.
  4. Applicants are required to attend an online interview, which will be usually held within 1-2 months after the applicant has uploaded all required materials, submitted their application and paid the application fee through the application system.
  5. Zhejiang University may ask the applicants to submit supplementary materials if necessary.

5. Selection Process, Admission and Notification
  1. The university enrolment will be made on the basis of competitive selection according to the applicant’s academic performance (50%) and their performance during video interview (50%).
  2. Admission Notice will be mailed out from the end of July 2024, in different batches. Download link of the electronic Visa Application Form will be sent to the permanent email address filled in the application system by the applicant.
  3. Applicants will be informed about their application result via Online Application System for International Students (Link).

6. Registration
  1. Master’s Degree programs of Zhejiang University usually start in late August or early September every year. For exact registration dates, please refer to the Admission Notice.
  2. Admitted applications should register with the university according to the time specified in the admission notice. The original graduation certificate and original language proficiency certificate will be checked upon registration.
  3. Those who fail to provide the original copy will be disqualified from enrolment.

7. Scholarships
Applicants for master’s degree programs can apply for the following scholarships:
  1. Chinese Government Scholarship-Bilateral Program (CSC A type) (Link)
  2. Chinese Government Scholarship-Chinese University Program (CSC B Type) (Link) (Application deadline is January 15, 2024; Not applicable for iMBA applicants)
  3. EU Window Chinese Government Scholarship(Type A)(Link) (Application deadline is February 15, 2024; Not applicable for iMBA applicants)
  4. Zhejiang Government Scholarship for New International Master’s Degree Students  (Link) (Application deadline is February 29, 2024)

  1. ZIBS Hai Scholarship
The ZIBS Hai Scholarship is established to reward individuals with outstanding potentials. It is opened to all ZIBS international applicants. The scholarship will be paid to students after the student arrive in the international campus physically. Students are, however, required to pay the tuition in full upon registration. Applicants should fill in the Hai Application Form and submit it together with other application materials via the application system. *The final interpretation of the ZIBS Hai Scholarship belongs to the ZIBS Admission Office.
 
*For applicants who need a pre-admission letter as one of the materials to apply for scholarship, we encourage you to submit your application and pay the application fee before December 31, 2023. You will receive the pre-admission letter after you pass the interview.

8. Medical Insurance
Fee: RMB 800 / per academic year
According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education, international students who study for one semester or longer must purchase comprehensive medical insurance in mainland China as a necessary requirement for their registration for the new semester.
Students who fail to purchase the comprehensive medical insurance as required will NOT be registered by the university.
Information related to purchasing insurance will be notified in detail before registration. The admitted students should handle insurance affairs strictly according to the instructions on the notice.
