About iMFA

Program Overview

The international Master in Fine Arts Program (iMFA) (Digital Culture Direction) is a three-year, full-time master's program jointly offered by Zhejiang University College of Media and International Culture (CMIC) and Zhejiang University International Business School (ZIBS). This program is dedicated to nurturing exceptional talents in film and television media with a global perspective and business acumen. Students will acquire interdisciplinary practical skills, international insights, and innovative mindsets. The main courses include but are not limited to film and television production, screenplay writing, social media marketing, and principles of management. The program aims to develop students' intercultural communication competence, foster innovative thinking, cultivate digital media skills, and provide practical business and management experience. Overall, our objective is to empower students to actively engage in discussions on digital culture, conduct innovative research projects, and participate in media and business practices both locally and globally.

Interdisciplinary pedagogy

iMFA program introduces you to innovative digital technologies and practices from an interdisciplinary perspective, providing engaging insights into media and its changing dynamics. Our goal is to distinguish and foster connections among approaches within Media Studies, Sociology, Multicultural Communication, Business, Management, and Marketing, along with other pertinent fields.

Co-founded by CMIC

Our students will take academic and practice-based courses facilitated by faculty members from both ZIBS and CMIC (Zhejiang University College of Media and International Culture). Mentors in this program have graduated from world-class universities. Established practitioners are appointed as visiting scholars and will provide career guidance for our students.

China experience

The program is committed to providing students with a variety of student activities and services, encouraging them to explore their interests. iMFA aims to strengthen cross-cultural understanding and cultural exploration. The activities include, but are not limited to, cultural experiences, field trips, company visits, compulsory internships, and interactions with founders and CEOs from the ZIBS ecosystem.

    At ZIBS, we demonstrate care for our students in various aspects of life through support services.

    (1)Counselling Center: Mental health education are regularly organized, click here for more information. Students can make appointment for psychological counselling at student platform-myZJU.

    (2)Health and Welllness Program: We promote healthy living through fitness facilities and wellness programs. The iZJU campus is well equipped with sports facilities including basketball courts, football fields, tracks, volleyball courts, dancing rooms, gymnasiums, squash halls, tennis halls, badminton halls, indoor swimming pool.     (3)Career Services: We assist our students with career planning, internships and job placement to enhance your post graduation prospects. Despite the conventional climbing the corporate ladder, ZIBS uniquely serve our students with ZIBS Innovation Center that boost start-up dream. On top of that, we have ZIBS Asia Pacific Center, ZIBS Latin America Center, ZIBS Africa Centre.

    Zhejiang University International Campus tree planting activity at Arbor Day to address climate change, community, and biodiversity issues and much more on campus.

  • Your Home Abroad

    iZJU adopts collegiate systems with the aim to provide students with homey residential for our students. Spacious, well-furnished with sufficient facilities such as multifunctional learning rooms, discussion rooms, gymnasiums, band rooms and recreation area for students after academic endeavors. The international Master of Fine Arts (iMFA) at Zhejiang University International Business School (ZIBS) is an interdisciplinary program for a master’s degree. In this program, you will not only have the opportunity to receive professional training in fine arts but also acquire business knowledge and engage in practical business experiences. The ZIBS ecosystem provides an international platform and local experience. Within this ecosystem, you will not only connect with international academic frontiers and participate in overseas cooperation and exchanges but also delve into Chinese local culture, making your study and life at ZIBS both fruitful and exciting!

Centered around students' growth, we implement a variety of measures, including career planning guidance, the cultivation of professional qualities and abilities, internship experiences, and employment services. We offer activities such as alumni/industry mentor discussions, corporate visits, corperate session, one-on-one mentorship for career guidance, mock interviews, and innovation & entrepreneurship initiatives. Our goal is to provide students with specialized, personalized, and systematic training in career skills and guidance for innovation and entrepreneurship.

“Working or Learning in a dynamic multi-cultural environment requires a strong commitment and a well-balanced life to remain active and healthy and integrate positively.”

Gilles is responsible for fostering cross-cultural understanding, integration, and communication among students on campus, in addition to promoting wellbeing management. He also oversees a number of workshop series that provide extracurricular support and enrich the lives of students, among others; these include workshops on culture development, public speaking, and career development. Additionally, he is co-organizing the Me&China Series and the Business Practice Series at this time. Furthermore, he offers assistance to students across the campus in the development of community outreach programs and student managed activities.
